The holiday season is upon us and has made it’s way to Science North! For the first time ever, KISS 105.3 and Science North have teamed up to bring us the KiSS Holiday Film Festival in the renowned IMAX theater. From November 26th until January 8th you can grab a $6 ticket and see one of the films, which include Elf, Home Alone, Arthur Christmas, Fred Claus, or The Light Before Christmas. This is a new initiative that will now become a yearly event at the science center and KiSS 105.3 hopes this festival gives families a chance to slow down and spend some quality time together during a usually busy season.

In addition to the new film festival, Science North and KiSS Sudbury also have an exciting event happening called Pancakes and Pj’s. Tickets are only $10 each and they include a pancake breakfast with Santa and admission into The Light Before Christmas in the IMAX theater. This family event runs from 9:30am – 11:30am on December 17th. We attended the event during its first run, on December 3rd, and had a BLAST.

The kids loved seeing Santa and were really happy to have a chance to say hi. Everything ran smoothly and the pancakes tasted good (kid-approved!). They also had bacon, fruit, and coffee available. One of the Bluecoats was using a special pancake machine that could create various designs. In the picture below is the beginning of a Pikachu. It was really neat!

After breakfast, we headed to the IMAX theater for our holiday film, which is the same one playing on the 17th, The Light Before Christmas. It was cute and had a clip about how stop-animation movies are made at the end, but the whole movie was really loud. My kids had to cover their ears a lot so keep that in mind when bringing little ones in. I really like this idea and hope it does continue yearly, as I could definitely see this being a family tradition! For a full list of movie showtimes and other holiday events happening at Science North, you can take a look at their website.
